Local residents will have an opportunity to participate in Lewis County's annual Walk-n-Knock food drive this Saturday, with a goal of collecting 100,000 pounds of food for area food banks.
Supported by community groups such as local Lions Clubs, Rotary Clubs and Kiwanis International, this year has featured a new aspect of the drive as around 40,000 households throughout the county received special bags in the mail, or through publications such as this newspaper, detailing the Walk-n-Knock and asking residents to fill the bags with donations.
Locally, the Winlock-Vader Food Bank will have a number of volunteers driving 21 routes to pick up the bags of food between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, while donations can also be dropped off at Cedar Village IGA, Umpqua Bank and Toledo Market Fresh.
