Here's what's happening with vision:Toledo
The Friends of the Toledo Library are at work to make the Toledo Community Library a reality. The owners of the old Toledo Pharmacy building, Pat and Bill Caldwell, said Lewis County PUD did an energy survey and will be retro-fitting the building with new lighting. The Caldwells have been tearing out old wall board and putting in insulation. Mike Ouellette has volunteered to mud and texture sheetrock but will need help hanging it. Administrators from the Timberland Regional Library will be checking things out for the kiosk and drop box. Sterling Savings has donated some furniture. If you would like to help the Caldwells get their building ready, please contact Pat at (360) 864-6757 or caldwell@toledotel.com
The Community Clean Up Day is scheduled for Saturday May 31. Organizer Mike Stavig is asking for help in finding areas around town and the Greater Toledo Area that need cleaning up, painting, weeding, or just a little love and attention. Contact Mike at (360) 864-2334 mikes@toledotel.com
This summer vision:Toledo will share the Cheese Day Bingo event with Youth Soccer. v:T will provide the gift baskets and the soccer group will run the Bingo night. Proceeds will benefit both charities.
The ever-popular Wine & Cheese Tasting Garden at Cheese Days will be better than ever. Pam Olmstead said the Black Sheep Creamery is the first of the cheese-makers to join this year. Steve Padula, owner of Bateaux Cellars, is lining up the wineries for our event. St. Helens Brewery and Dragonfly Chocolates will participate again. Gayle Holmes and Pam Olmstead are creating the Wine & Cheese Day Float. If you would like to help out, call Pam (360) 864-2855 kevnpam2002@yahoo.com
Riverfest and the Steelhead Derby will be combined this year and are scheduled for Saturday July 26. Speaking of steelhead, Ron and Victoria Smith are working on a five fish sculpture to be placed in the traffic diversion triangle near the Toledo Hair Salon.
If you would like to get involved in creating Toledo's vision, the next Arts, Recreation, and Events meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at the Morgan Arts Centre (190 Plomondon Rd).
