Karli Friese pumped in 20 points and Alicia Smaciarz added 13 to lead Willapa Valley to a 53-22 win over Ocosta last Tuesday (Dec. 17) at Westport.
”We were happy with the road win but we were not satisfied by how we
played,” Valley head coach Matt Bannish told the Herald. “We attempted 80 field goals, which is outstanding, but we need to shoot better. Give Ocosta credit, they played hard throughout the game.”
Valley improved to 5-1 with the win.
”Karli Friese and Alicia Smaciarz played well tonight,” Bannish added.
The Vikings creamed Lake Quinault 72-41 Friday night at Tenoski Gym in Menlo.
“I was very happy with our offense tonight,” Coach Bannish told the Herald. “We shot the ball very well from the perimeter and had really good ball movement. Alicia Smaciarz scored all of her 17 points in the first half. Quinault battled us really tough the first quarter.
“Defensively, we lacked intensity and aggressiveness tonight,” Bannish said. “We played 12 kids tonight and all scored. As we conclude the pre-holiday part of our season, the coaching staff is happy with what we are seeing.
Karli Friese tallied 12 points, Lauren Friese added 11, and Brooke Harden scored 8.
Valley hosts the Jack Pearson Classic Friday and Saturday.
