The Vader City Council is expected to vote on the issue of pay increases for city employees during their next scheduled meeting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall.

Council members met during a workshop Jan. 21 to define a possible ordinance establishing criteria by which employees will be given pay increase. During budget proposals last year, it was submitted by Mayor Ken Smith that the City Clerk/Treasurer, Billing Clerk and Part-time Public Works Employee each receive an increase of $1 per hour as a show of good faith for their hard work and an incentive to remain with the city, stated Smith.

An increase in hours for part-time employees will also be discussed, as Smith has been advocating for greater hours in Public Works to accomplish more projects and more hours for the Billing Clerk to open City Hall more than three days per week.
