The Vader City Council will be holding their next regular meeting this Thursday at 6 p.m. in City Hall after having rescheduled last week's meeting because of Thanksgiving. Officials are expected to discuss possible budget options regarding increases in utility rates, options for law enforcement and a possible change to the city's name. The Park Board reports they are mostly down to several dozen pumpkin pies out of their Plush Pippen Pie inventory, with additional options flavors to be delivered in the next week or so. A 12-inch pie is $6 while a 9-inch pie is $5, with funds going toward ongoing projects of the Park Board. The Vader Assembly of God Church will be hosting Rod Boyd this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. to speak about his missionary work in Panama, and area residents are invited to attend and hear his inspirational message.
The church will also be holding their regular food bank opening on Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon, with their next opening schedule for Dec. 23. Those unable to make it to the food bank can attend the church's regular food giveaway on Wednesday, Dec. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon outside the post office.
The church is also holding free games and activities for parents and toddlers on Tuesdays starting at 10:30 a.m. This program is sponsored by Castle Rock Elementary School and is open to all local residents. For more information on these and other church activities, call (360) 295-3756.
