City Hall has announced the hiring of a new sewer/water employee after having spent the last several months depending on Winlock to oversee such services. Part-time employee Terresa Yost, who also works for the City of Pe Ell, began July 14 at a rate of $19.50, and is expected to keep Vader’s lagoon system up and running. If you happen to run into her, be sure to welcome Mrs. Yost to the community.
If you have yet to turn in your application for free side sewer replacement, you have until Aug. 25 to take advantage of this grant opportunity. Made possible through funding acquired by the city in 2012, grants have been set aside for 80 homes to receive free replacement, but you won’t be eligible unless you apply. For more info, as well as details about what is needed to apply, call City Hall at (360) 295-3222.
The Vader Assembly of God will be holding their free food giveaway this Wednesday outside the post office, and all community members are invited to drop by for fresh produce, bread and other items. Those who miss the giveaway will be able to take part on their next upcoming food bank (second and fourth Tuesdays of the month) on Aug. 12 at 10 a.m. For info, call (360) 295-3756.
The Vader Citizen’s League will be holding another of their children’s events Monday, Aug. 11, at Werden Park, and again on Aug. 25. This event, featuring free crafts and activities, runs from 1 to 3 p.m. and is open to all residents, though organizers ask that children 8 and younger be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
