The Country Cruisers Car Club's annual car show has been scheduled for June 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at McMurphy Park. Residents Judy Costello and Janet Charlton have undertaken the task of organizing May Day 2015, which is coming up on May 2. While details are still in the works, including a theme for this year, the community now has some go-to gals to prepare for this first festival of the local summer season. The Vader City Council will be meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. and are expected, among other topics, to discuss the possibility of hiring a hearings examiner to help enforce the city's nuisance ordinances, which officials have said is the last step in the process of cleaning up multiple problem properties in town.
Then, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Cowlitz-Lewis Fire District 20 will be holding their Board of Commissioners meeting and are expected to consider a resolution asking voters to increase the district's tax levy rate during an upcoming election. Those wishing to speak on the issue will be given an opportunity during the meeting, while those curious about other district business are encouraged to attend the remainder of the evening.
The next food giveaway by the Vader Assembly of God Church will be March 18 from 10 a.m. to noon outside the post office, while their next food bank opening will be March 24 from 10 a.m. to noon.
