Vader May Day was a big success this year with the parade, cakewalk, vendors and of course the food from the Little Crane.

Vader Mayor Joe Schey was in the parade with his troops, it is always good to see a mayor participate in their city's parade. This was the event that many local officials showed up for. Lewis County Sheriff Rob Snaza, Undersheriff Dusty Breen as well as other deputies. Lewis County Commissioner Dr. Lindsey Pollock was in the route and Mayor Brandon Svenson from Winlock drove the Egg Day Float.

The day started with vendors setting up at 10:00 a.m. followed by the parade at 11:00 a.m. The parade was led by the Cowlitz-Lewis Fire District emergency vehicles. Then there were floats, classic trucks and antique cars, followed by the Vader caboose. After the parade, several stayed to eat hot dogs and hamburgers provided by Little Crane. They held their annual cake walk, some had luck and some did not, but there were plenty to give away.

Vader May Day is the first in a series of events that happen around Lewis County throughout the summer. It's a great beginning to a summer of festivals.
