On Saturday, March 17, 2018, the Neumann family lost their beautiful home in Toledo to a fire. At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Saturday evening, a member of the Toledo Fire Department saw smoke coming from the property. He decided to drive down the driveway because burning was not allowed but to his surprise the house was engulfed in flames. He alerted the Toledo Fire Department and they were quick to respond but the fire had already consumed the home and it was a total loss. Ron Neumann, his wife Dawn, their two children and two grandchildren resided in the home but no one was there at the time of the fire. They lost their family dog and several cats in the fire.
The public response to the family's needs has been incredible. Two local churches, Toledo Baptist and Vader Assembly of God, gave them significant donations.
Toledo High School had a clothing drive and all their clothing needs have been met. A couple of local restaurants have given them meals, both Guadalajara in Winlock and Donna's Place in Toledo. Great Wolf Lodge gave the family a three nights stay. Individuals from both Toledo and Winlock have also been generous with donations of cash, clothing, personal and household items.
Ron Neumann stated, "Any sorrow I have had is gone because of the appreciation and love from the community." The family will rebuild in the same location.
