Toledo once again dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and this week the result was a 35-0 victory over the Toutle Lake Ducks in the opening week of divisional football action.
"We tried to work on a couple things. I have an assistant I really trust and we split time calling the offense," Toledo coach Jeremy Thibault said. "I thought he did a good job. We couldn't really get much going. This team hasn't won a game, so that is to be expected, but I thought our defense played well."
While Toutle Lake is struggling, they did give Toledo a push, one most winless teams never do.
Toledo opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 54-yard touchdown pass from Dalton Yoder to Junior Arroyo. Dakota Robins scampered into the end zone from 15 yards out for a 14-0 first quarter lead.
The lone score of the second quarter was a 43-yard fumble recovery run and score by Arroyo for a 21-0 lead at the break.
In the third quarter, Yoder got on the board, but on defense, as he collected a fumble and ran 65 yards for the score. Toledo's Marcus Ouellette capped the scoring with a 5-yard running score.
Ouellette led the Indians on the ground with 84 yards on 10 carries, and Robins accounted for 48 yards on four carries.
Toledo (5-0, 1-0 league) travels to Mossyrock next Friday in another River Division battle.
