Di Morgan (left) helps Jay Foster (right) sculpt a plate from a lump of raw clay during Family Clay Day at the Morgan Arts Centre in Toledo Sunday afternoon. The annual event is advertised for participants between 6 and 96 and precedes Chocolate Making Day, which is scheduled for Feb. 12 this year.
Between seven adult and child sculptors, 46 pieces were created this year. They will be fired in a kiln on site before receiving a layer of glaze and a final firing later next month.
Jake Morgan starts a new piece on one of the potter’s wheels made available that day. Participants were encouraged to create as many pieces as they liked in any style that appealed to them.
