SOUTH BEND - On Saturday, October 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. community members can bring their expired, unused, and unwanted medications for disposal to Pioneer Grocery in South Bend, Shoalwater Bay Police Department in Tokeland, or Shop n' Kart (formally Sid's) in Seaview. To keep everyone safe, collection sites will be drive-thru style so people don't have to leave their cars. This service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is locally supported by the following organizations: Long Beach Police Department, South Bend Police Department, Raymond Police Department, Shoalwater Bay Police Department, Pacific County Sheriff's Office, Pacific County Health & Human Services, Teen Advocacy Coalition, Road 2 Resiliency, WellSpring Community Network, Willapa Behavioral Health, and Shoalwater Bay Behavioral Health. Prescription Drug Take Back Days are held throughout the United States during October and April.
Last fall, Americans turned in nearly 883,000 pounds of prescription drugs at nearly 6,300 sites operated by the DEA and almost 5,000 of its state and local law enforcement partners. Take back events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent substance use disorders and overdose deaths, as well as to keep our waterways clean and contaminant free.
In addition to Take Back Day events, permanent drop boxes are located throughout Pacific County and are available all year long. Please visit http://bit.ly/rxsafedisposal for a list of locations.
