Thompson, Hatfield are not Representatives of “government… for the people”

The Gettysburg address 272 words are still resonating today in many of our citizens. However, if we look at our current President can you ever imagine him uttering these words, and meaning it?

In a recent press conference he said he would get the ACA Website fixed by the end of November…God willing. So now he has inserted God into the mix to blame, so if it’s not fixed, well its God’s fault. When is our hubris President going to take responsibility for his own mismanagement? 

Sadly, we have too many very poorly elected officials who fill many elected positions that are there for the wrong reason…enriching themselves, at our expense.

In the past 10 months I have been a part of an investigation of our PUD #2 management, and the County Commissioners. I have been very impressed by the PUD staff and line service crews, they just need better leadership.

It has been an honor for me to work with citizens and businessman in Pacific County in opposing this ill-conceived project to extend power to Tokeland, and across oyster beds to Oysterville. The PUD#2 Management has demonstrated ignorance and disregard in following the laws. On November 19, 2013, the results of this investigation were presented to the PUD #2 Commissioners, in a six page memo, with a 6 MB reference material attachment.

Basically our attorney’s memo reports this project is premature, poorly developed, and has failed to obtain the proper public inputs, and permits. Unfortunately, the past Pacific County Commissioners have failed to act on the part of the people, and have been complacent with PUD#2 bulldozing over the rate payers. 

Basically, our group is asking the PUD #2 to accomplish a professional detail process of engineering development of the entire project, have public hearings, and apply for all permits. This process engages the public; if they have compelling technical reasons for redundant power (This area is now served very well.), then they should be very happy to engage the public to show their comprehensive work. Hiding demonstrates incompetence.

Commissioners Thompson and Hatfield have lost all credibility as public servants’ because they’re rubber-stamping; they are not representatives of “government…for the people”.
