Approximately 17,870 ballots will be mailed on Wednesday, January 20th to all active registered voters within the following districts for the February 9th Special Election: Chehalis School Dist. 302; Morton School Dist. 214; Napavine School Dist. No 14; Oakville School Dist. 400; Onalaska School Dist. 300; Pe Ell School Dist. 301; and Rochester School Dist. No 401 and Fire Protection Dist. No 10-Packwood.
118 military and service ballots were mailed on January 8th.
If ballots have not been received ten (10) days after the above mailing date, voters may receive a replacement ballot by any of the following:
· Call the Elections Department at 740-1278, 740-1164 or toll free within Lewis County at 1-800-562-6130 ext. 1278 or ext. 1164;
· Appear in person between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Election Day;
· Go online to www.myvote.wa.gov , enter voter information and select MyBallot on left and then click 'get myballot packet' button. The ballot and declaration can then be printed, completed and returned to this office prior to 8 pm Election Day.
If an individual has moved, they may contact this office to update their voter registration. If there is a forwarding order in place, the ballots will be forwarded but may take more time going through the forwarding process. If no forward order is in place, the ballot will be returned as undeliverable; the voter placed on inactive status and no other ballot will be mailed until the address is updated.
The ballots must be postmarked on or before February 9th. Any ballots returned with a postal cancellation date after Election Day will be invalid. If the ballot is not mailed until Election Day, the voter should take the ballot to a postal clerk and have the clerk stamp it with a circular post office cancellation stamp. Postal facilities and mailboxes have the last pick up time posted, if the ballot is dropped off after that time, the ballot will not be postmarked that day and will not be valid. The ballot drop boxes below will be open until 8 pm and voters are encouraged to drop off their ballots at any of the drop boxes to ensure the ballot is counted.
