Simply Said Flowers in Hoquiam has been in Grays Harbor for almost three years, and has just recently moved to a new location over the holidays. Trixie, owner of Simply Said Flowers told of how she came to land her shop in Hoquiam, "there had been a florist in the building I occupied for nine years by that time, I was just the third owner," said Trixie. She explained that when she began looking for a shop in Hoquiam, she had known about at least two florists in the area that were planning to retire, and two more that she knew were moving to other areas. Trixie had worked on and off in the floral industry for 25 years prior to looking to start a business of her own, "I always worked for other people and I've never had my own shop and so there was an opportunity and so I took it. I love the area, I knew that there had been previous florists and people were familiar with it."
Trixie went on to talk about how the location that she was previously at was a tough location due to several factors. The shop was in downtown Hoquiam, near the Seventh Street Theatre. "I had been at that location almost three years before I realized that the location is tough. The building was almost a block long and on the main drag in Hoquiam the parking is not the best. So I thought I could find something with better parking," said Trixie.
The new location of Simply Said Flowers, sits about one block just off of the bridge that leads out of Hoquiam with a big sign on the right side of the road. After Trixie decided that is was time to move locations, she began looking for a new place and found the building that they are currently at, "after some investigating I found out who owned it, and found that it was a little expensive and kept watching it, and before I knew it the building was occupied again. After I saw that the last business occuping this building moving out, I thought I either really pursue this or I don't because you don't get that many opportunities," said Trixie. The business started it's move in November, and Trixie explained that since the new location did not have a cooler by the time they started moving in, she had to continue paying rent on their old location in downtown Hoquiam to store their flowers there.
"We did that up until a week before Christmas and I was fortunate enough to find someone that was able to build me a cooler in the new location. Once the cooler was done a week before Christmas we told everybody our new location was open, and shut the old one down for good.
Simply Said Flowers will deliver and even features same-day delivery, but cost goes up depending on how far away the location is from the store, and the store is also a "wire service" which means you can have flowers sent to anywhere in the country, Simply Said Flowers can arrange that.
