Napavine FunTime Festival is this weekend and they are celebrating 50 years of their event. This year the event starts on Friday, ending on Saturday with the FunTime Grand Parade and lunch at the Rebekah Lodge.

Toledo Cheese Days has another successful year

Toledo Cheese Days was another great event hosted by the Toledo Lions Club. Approximately 2,000 people attended the parade where there were many wonderful floats. It was also a treat to see the Big Toledo Cheeses all in one vehicle.

Winlock Egg Day was a fun time for all

Winlock Egg Day was a smash event as usual, starting with the Coronation of Queen Kailie Lang, resident of Winlock. On Saturday, many residents had breakfast at one of the local spots then went to the car show. Then at 11:00 a.m. the parade began and the rest of the day festivities continued.

Egg Day weekend is finally upon us and the Egg Day Committee has been hard at work to bring you the best Egg Day ever. There will be the coronation, the big parade and a lot of vendors along with the usual street dance at the Club to finish off the evening. What a great eggsperience this will be!

A love story: A man and his horse

There is something special about a person who rescues animals, they usually have a heart of gold. When you rescue your animals, you know they are going to come with some issues. The issues Scott Gross had to face after rescuing Auggie, his horse, were more than most rescuers can usually do or afford. Auggie came to Scott with an unknown former break in his leg and Scott was determined to save Auggie, no matter what it took.

It takes a special heart to help animals, Scott has an incredible heart for his rescues. He stated, "I sort of 'fell' into rescuing, not only horses but animals in general. It started when I lived in California back in 2012 and I lost my son, Maverick, during labor at 38 weeks and my mom to cancer a month to the day after losing Maverick. I was crushed! I relocated to the Pacific Northwest a month after my mom passed and instantly fell in love with the PNW and the welcomed feeling I instantly felt. Fast forward to 2017 when I moved to my current residence in Winlock. ...

LCBRB to hear from citizens

The Lewis County Boundary Review Board (BRB) is having a meeting on June 1, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Lewis County Commissioners Board Room in the old courthouse. All residents in the Winlock Urban Growth Area are encouraged to attend and speak if they wish. This is a regularly scheduled meeting for the BRB as they will be hearing other matters.

Lewis County Deputy Civil Prosecutor David Bailey has filed a motion to have the entire annexation thrown out. The reason is who is the agent of the annexation. In his motion, he states that the mayor is not the agent for the property owners who have requested the annexation. Bailey also included in his motion that Robert Webster can not act as an agent for the property owners either.

What if a critical fact Sheriff Snaza has reported to the public about the killing of Aron Christenson and his dog Buzzo was fabricated? Dr. Brandy Fay, who first examined Buzzo at the request of the Sheriff's office, determined that Buzzo did not die of a gunshot wound. Dr. Fay reported to the Sheriff's Office that Buzzo had been stabbed to death.
