Raymond hosted seven schools with the Seagulls taking first place in the boys' competition and Willapa Valley winning the girls meet last Thursday.
The Seagulls tallied 190 points to win comfortably over second-place North Beach at 142. South Bend (70) was third, followed by Willapa Valley (61), Taholah (27), North River (5) and Mary M. Knight (1).
“I was very happy with our performance on Thursday,” Raymond HS Head Track and Field Coach Mike Tully told the Herald. “It was a good, competitive, seven school meet. It was nice for the weather to cooperate so we could lay down some good marks before spring break. We had 53 season PR's in the meet, which shows that we're making good progress.
“The boys team continued to use their depth to outpace a good North Beach squad,” Tully said. “Rayce Newman avenged a loss at the tape in the 100 by outpacing Carson Ketter from North Beach in the 200. Rayce also had a PR in the long jump (19-7) to capture that event as well.
The Seagulls claimed victory in the two long distance races.
“Freshman Carlos Cruz ran a big PR in the 1600 to take that event,” Tully said. “Aaron deMontigny continued his good running in taking the 3200.
