PrintAt one residence two men were visiting and began to harass the Schwan's man about giving them the Seahawk's cap. After informing him it as a gift from his wife, he refused to give it to them and they continued to harass him over it. Eventually one man turned friendly and started making conversation with the Schwan's man about becoming a customer, while the other man went out the door. Upon the return of the second man the friendly man again started harassing the Schwan's delivery man. Upon returning to his vehicle, the Scwhan's man noticed that $200 worth of ice cream was missing. As the Schwan's men continued on their route, they noticed that the men were following them in their vehicle and when they returned to the truck after visiting a customer they noticed $400 more products of fish were missing.
A report was filed and the names of the two men were given to a sheriff who was related to one of the alleged thieves.
When told of the robbery the Schwan's man’s supervisor said that he would handle the problem and called to talk to Sheriff Johnson who never returned his call, until recently.
As a customer of Schwan's Home Delivery for over thirty years I know how important their business is to our community. Especially when living outside of town where bringing ice cream or frozen products home from the store on hot summer days becomes difficult.
Imagine my dismay when I heard about our local driver being robbed in Menlo about five months ago and absolutely nothing being done by our Pacific County Sheriff's office.
I would imagine many customers of Schwan's are as upset as I am about the lack of follow-through from our law enforcement. If you are one of those please write to the editor and encourage our law enforcement to do their jobs. They were given the names of the alleged thieves and they have never contacted the Schwan's man or the trainee or answered the supervisor’s calls. Is there something wrong here?
