The first week of a new month means another incredible breakfast feast on Saturday from 8-10 a.m. Come on out to the end of SR 506 and enjoy some of the best food around. There was a group staying in the Park last month when the Breakfast came around and there was a record crowd. The guys handled it all very well!
I'm happy to report that Cowlitz-Lewis Fire District #20 Station 2 (Ryderwood) has new members. More volunteers are needed if Ryderwood is to keep its excellent fire insurance rating. Contact Ellis at (360) 295-3320. As it remains incredibly dry, please use caution everywhere you go. Crush your butts and don't fart in the woods!
I'm also happy to report that repairs are underway at "The Nest" with a grand reopening planned for Wednesday Oct. 1. For those who may not know, "The Nest" is a unique gift shop where everything is made in Ryderwood. Vendors (former and new) are asked to bring their items in the Sunday and Monday prior. Contact Rae at (360) 295-3748.
Next week will be busy with Karaoke on Monday (6:30 p.m. at the Café), the Association's Annual Meeting and reception on Tuesday at 2 p.m., the Women's Club meeting on Wednesday and Red Hats gathering on Thursday. Tuesday's Senior Nutrition menu is: Turkey Pot Roast, Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli Normandy. As of this writing, I don't have the Café's Friday night menu.
There are only a couple more weeks until the 6th Annual Ryderwood Variety Show on Sunday, Sept. 14. "Sweet Swing!, an a cappella trio will perform your 40's favorites, portraying the era-changing roles of women during the WWII years. The mother of the group's leader lives in Ryderwood, which is how we were able to lure them so far from their home base of Seattle. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Linda has them at the Café and wherever she sells dinner tickets or call Barb at (360) 903-0591.
Have a great week!
