Welcome to April and whatever it brings us, weather-wise. Definitely, the grasses are greener while deciduous trees, blooming plants and shrubs are all adding variety to our landscape almost daily. While rain is mostly overdue, the timing might mean that our hard dense clay soil won’t dry out enough for seeds to germinate. We never had much luck with early peas unless we pre-sprouted them.
The Women’s Club is gearing up for their big Spring Garage Sale extravaganza. Contact Linda at (360) (360) 295-0875 or Patty at (360) 295-3544 if you have donations or can help before, during or after the Sale. Sale dates are April 25 & 26.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Club members will enjoy lunch and hold their meeting at Parker’s in Castle Rock this month. They plan to carpool from the Café promptly at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday the 9. Contact Marty at (360) 295-0096 to make reservations. Marty is also the contact person for the Spring Arts & Crafts Fair. Applications and flyers are available at “The Nest”.
A special item to put on your event calendar: “The Gospel Sons” from the Portland area will be at Ryderwood’s Community Church on April 13 during the Sunday Service (11 a.m.). This is a special event that all are invited to attend. There will be “finger foods” following the Service.
This Saturday will be April’s Town Breakfast put on by the VFW guys. It’s some of the best breakfast fare around and variety you can’t beat. Pancakes, eggs how you like them, biscuits & gravy, ham OR sausage – and the orange juice and bottomless coffee are included.
I don’t have Friday’s Café menu at the time of writing, but you can call Linda at 295-0875. Tuesday’s Nutrition Lunch (April 8) will be Beef & Barley Soup, ½ Turkey Sandwich and Marinated Fresh Veggies. Call Jan at (360) 295-0597.
There will be Karaoke on Monday at 6:30 p.m. following Burgers and Soup at the Café. Come out and enjoy the fun!
