Raymond City Council Highlights

Mayor Bob Jungar and Council Members Jason Dunsmoor, Dee Roberts, Randy Flemetis, Ian Farrell, Ray Robinson and Berry Sovereign were present for the regularly scheduled Raymond City Council meeting January 7 in council chambers. Councilwoman Vicki Flemetis was absent. Officers present were Fire Chief Todd Strozyk, Police Chief Chuck Spoor, City Attorney Will Penoyar, Public Works Director M. Dean Parsons, and Clerk-Treasurer Hester Gilleland.

Claims No. 44959 through No. 44993 were paid in the amount of $93,900.41. Payroll No. 48873 through No. 48933 was paid in the amount of $131,105.26.

Department Head Reports

Fire Chief Todd Strozyk reported that he has obtained some preliminary figures for the purchase of a new fire truck. He requested council to adopt a committee to research the issue with him because it is a major purchase and it will require a bond issue.

Police Chief Chuck Spoor provided some statistics regarding police activities last year. He reported that he has finished an “Unusual Occurrence Manual” for his department. Chief Spoor also reported that he would be getting together with the County and other first responders to make sure the school mapping for first responders is up to date.

Public Works Director M. Dean Parsons reported he is waiting for final approvals for the Water Treatment Plant project bid and would ask the Council for a bid award at the next meeting. He also announced that he has advertised for a sanitation truck driver and two additional sewer department positions as authorized.

Council Comments

Councilman Ray Robinson reported that at the last Carriage Museum meeting they noticed the paint was peeling on the Public Market building and there is a piece missing from the Seaport Museum building in the back. Mayor Jungar would have someone look at it. Councilman Ray Robinson also asked about people parking over night in the parking lot. Chief Spoor stated it was again city ordinance, but permission is granted from time-to-time for special events.

Councilwoman Dee Roberts asked if anything could be done about the dilapidated old gas station across from the video store. Mayor Jungar said he would contact the owner.

Councilman Ian Farrell asked about the Bridges building. Mayor Jungar stated he has some numbers to call to get in touch with owners.

The next Raymond City Council meeting is February 4^th at 6 p.m.
