David Henry Pedrazzetti, 35, of Raymond entered guilty pleas to first degree burglary, felony violation of a no-contact order, second degree possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, and second trafficking in stolen property, stemming from an October 4, 2014 Raymond burglary.
Officers from the Raymond and South Bend police departments, and Pacific County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at Pedrazzetti's residence and recovered firearms and other property taken in the Raymond burglary.
Also at the residence was Shona Gustin, Pedrazzetti's girlfriend, with whom there was an active no contact order prohibiting the two from being together. Both were arrested and subsequently charged with several felony offenses. Guston had earlier entered a guilty plea to her complicity in the possession of a stolen property and is awaiting sentencing, which is anticipated to be a prison sentence.
"While a burglary does not ordinarily result in a 10-year prison sentence, Mr. Pedrazzitti's criminal history warranted a significant prison sentence and we were pleased that Judge (Mike) Sullivan agreed and imposed 60 months for the burglary and related matters and an additional 60 months for the firearm enhancements," said Pacific County Prosecutor Mark McClain.
"Raymond (Police) Officers Rob Verboomen, Jessie Eastham and Eric Fuller were instrumental in the recovery of the stolen property," said Pacific County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Eric Weston.
"Eric [Weston] did an excellent job working with our local law enforcement agencies to ensure Mr. Pedrazzetti's matter was appropriate resolved," added McClain. "We simply will not tolerate these types of offense to go without swift and significant punishment."
Pedrazzetti will also be required to pay restitution to the victim for the property not recovered, but a hearing to determine the total cost has not yet been scheduled.
Alyward Sentenced
Jessie D. Alyward, 18, of Ocean Park, entered a guilty plea to possession of over 40 grams of marijuana, a felony.
Officers from the Pacific County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on the home Alyward shared with his mother following an undercover narcotics operation targeting her for delivery of narcotics.
During the execution of the search warrant, officers located two large baggies of marijuana and tinfoil, which had been used to smoke narcotics as well as smoking devices used to ingest marijuana in Alyward's room.
"While many believe marijuana to be legal, it remains illegal to possess more than an ounce of marijuana, or any marijuana not purchased from a state-licensed retailer," said McClain, who added, "It is also illegal for anyone under 21 years of age to possess any marijuana or for any person to possess more than one ounce of marijuana, and that it is a felony to possess more than 40 grams of marijuana."
Alyward was sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to complete alcohol/drug treatment during the term of his 12 months of community custody.
