Host Wahkiakum defeated Willapa Valley by 17 strokes at a boys' golf match last Thursday at Cathlamet. North Beach was a distant third at 251.
“Austin Good edged Nicholas Betrozoff (WVHS) by 1 stroke to claim medalist honors as Wahkiakum won with a team score of 183,” Willapa Harbor Tri-District Head Golf Coach Dave Lund told the Herald. “Wahkiakum is always tough on their course.'
Willapa Valley (200): Nicholas Betrozoff ( 41), Kyler Oblad (50), Dylan Barrett (53), Cameron McAllister (56), Chase Flemetis (66).
Other local scores included Zane Johnson, SB, (51), Landon Maneman, RHS, (54), and Tyson Johnson, SB, (62).
In the girls' match, Emily Fluke of WVHS shot a 54, and South Bend's Emma Lorton carded a 57.
“I'm happy to see the girls already in mid-season form at this point,” Coach Lund said. “I know their scores are only going to get better. I was also pleased to see our newer golfers from all the schools doing well.”
