A tour group traveling with the Morgans during a previous European excursion, which have included trips to France, Spain, Italy and the UK. They have even visited Toledo, Spain, the medieval capital of the country. Mike Morgan said the city has been so well-preserved their visit was like traveling 400 into history.

Mike and Di Morgan, of the Morgan Arts Centre, are planning a trip to Paris by way of Norway for 2014, an excursion open to all who can spare the time and finances.

The latest in a series of international trips the Morgans began taking in 1996, the tentative plan is to fly to Oslo May 1 and travel through Denmark, The Netherlands and France until flying out of Paris May 11, spending no fewer than two days in any one area.

“At least half of the trip’s fun is in the planning,” said Di Morgan, stating the itinerary and exact dates will be determined by the group of travelers.

The trip is being organized through Education First, a company that puts together trips abroad primarily for students. Di Morgan said the company has been exceptional in years past at providing safe, informative and culturally-revealing tours.

“We were really, really pleased with this last trip we took,” said Di Morgan, stating she, Mike Morgan and friends visited France and Spain earlier this year. “We have never come across somebody [at the tourist sites] who was not absolutely terrific.”

The trip is expected to cost $4,000, a price that includes air travel, a private bus, a tour guide/translator and all expenses related to scheduled events. Those who sign up by Dec. 15, 2013, will be given a $200 discount on travel, though prices are expected to increase incrementally as the date of travel approaches.

Di Morgan said, while individuals who can spare the funding and time for the trip are welcome to participate, they ought to be prepared for a lot of pedestrian travel.

“There’s a great deal of walking and those kinds of things,” she said, stating the group will use public transit when it is available, lug their own luggage off and onto busses, and spend time taking walking tours through the cities they visit. “We’re going to Europe to see Europe.”

A meeting to determine the general interests of expected travelers took place Sunday afternoon, and a second is being planned for mid-January when the group will look at cultural attractions in Oslo and Copenhagen. Those curious about going are encouraged to attend the meetings to be sure they would like to participate, as committing to the trip requires a $95 deposit at the time of registration with a commitment to pay an additional $400 within 30 days. These deposits do contribute toward the total cost of travel, but are non-refundable.
