Mitchell given 2014 Otis Roundtree Award

Winlock High school Senior Evan Mitchell (center, left) has been given the 2014 Otis Roundtree Award for his inspiration and leadership on the high school football team. Awarded every year by the Winlock Lions Club, the recipient is selected by his teammates, and Mitchell said he feels the award represents the trust his fellow players place in him. During his career at Winlock, Mitchell has played just about every position on the team, which Coach Mike Voie (center, right) said is a reflection of Mitchell's desire to support the team however is needed. Both Mitchell's parents (Craig Mitchell, pictured far left, and Hedy Mitchell, pictured far right) are instructors with the district and said they are proud to know their son means so much to his teammates, and expect he will be missed when he graduates in the spring.
