On Sunday, February 28 at approximately 8:23pm, the Aberdeen Police Officers were dispatched to a report of subjects fighting in the Wal-Mart parking lot near the garden center. One of the suspects was reported to have a knife.
When officers arrived they learned a 27 year old Aberdeen man was vehicle prowling a vehicle parked in the parking lot when the vehicle owner and some of his family members found him inside their vehicle.
The owners of the vehicle tried removing the male from the vehicle and the suspect used a small can of pepper spray and sprayed family members and then displayed a knife and stabbed the registered owner of the vehicle three times before they retreated to avoid more injuries.
The suspect then ran from the vehicle and after a very short distance was tackled by bystanders. The knife was separated from the suspect during the scuffle and the suspect was detained by the family until the police arrived on scene within a minute of the call from dispatch.
The main victim and registered owner of the vehicle, who is a 30 year old male from Seattle, received a stab wound in the left thigh, stomach, and right hand. His father-in-law's clothing was cut but his skin was not cut and he also was pepper sprayed in the face. The father-in-law of the main victim lives in Hoquiam and is 47 years old.
Both the suspect and the 30 year old Seattle victim were treated and released from the Grays Harbor Community Hospital. The suspect was treated for a sore right wrist and an abrasion to the forehead.
The 27 year old suspect was arrested for Robbery and also found to be in possession of items believed to be stolen from a Vehicle Prowl at Taco Bell that was reported three minutes prior to this incident.
