Chamber President Mike Morris is confident in the transition. "I am very excited that Michele has accepted our director position. She knows the community well and is personally invested in it's success. She will do a great job. My thanks go out Laurie Johnson, our past director, who has volunteered to be this year's president. The Willapa Harbor Chamber of Commerce is in good hands."
The director's position is only 20 hours a week, but its scope is broad. As director Layman is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Chamber of Commerce and the rental arrangements of the Willapa Harbor Community Center, located on W. First and Alder streets in South Bend.
The chamber also maintains the Visitor Information Center on Commercial Street in Raymond. Layman welcomes local residents to consider volunteering for a few hours a month. The winter months may be quiet, but there are opportunities to meet people from around the world when they come through the local communities as the tourism season begins.
Layman is owner of Willapa Printing and Heavenly Scrapbooking in Raymond, and will continue to operate both businesses as she serves the local businesses and the greater community through the chamber.
For information about membership in the Willapa Harbor Chamber, volunteering at the Visitors Center, or renting the Community Center, contact Layman at 942-5419, or email info@willapaharbor.org. The chamber is also on Facebook, and on the web at www.willapaharbor.org
