SOUTH BEND - Kristopher A. Laine, 33, of Naselle, pleaded guilty to felony voyeurism. The action took place in Pacific County Superior Court Friday afternoon.
According to Pacific County Prosecutor Mark McClain, Long Beach Police Officer Rodney Nawn responded to the report of a male intently staring at a woman in a local laundromat. The woman, who had fled the location to contact authorities, reported that she had observed Laine expose himself and then he began masturbating.
"While ordinarily Mr. Laine's conduct would generally be considered indecent exposure, a misdemeanor offense, I felt such a low level offense failed to protect our community and opted to charge this as the felony of voyeurism because the victim was in a place where she should have felt safe from Mr. Laine's behavior," McClain told the Herald.
"This felony conviction will also require Mr. Laine to register as a sex offender and will require him to undergo sexual deviancy treatment while on probation," McClain added.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 25, 1:30 pm, in the Pacific County Superior Court.
