Host North Beach shut out South Bend 54-0 Friday night at Oyehut. The Hyaks amassed 305 yards with their lethal running attack. Cameron Keller accounted for 183 yards on just 10 carries.
"I thought that we played fairly well against North Beach," said SBHS Head Football Coach Tom Sanchez. "Their size is something that we had a hard time dealing with, but our kids played hard and competed throughout the game.
"Defensively, we played real well in spurts, but have to work on consistency," Sanchez said. "We need to work on sustaining blocks on offense.
"Despite losing our first two games, I think that we are making progress and are getting better," Sanchez added. "We just need to have some good things happen and stay positive."
Ben Byington made eight total tackles and recovered a fumble for the Indians, and Kobe Salas had 5 solo stops and 2 assists.
Lewis Austin returned a kickoff 46 yards for the Tribe. And AJ Sanchez gained 34 tough yards on 15 rushes.
North Beach was 9 of 10 passing for 135 yards.
South Bend (0-2) hosts Tacoma Baptist Friday for a 7 pm kickoff, while North Beach visits Seton Catholic.
