Ignition Interlock Program tries to stop DUI repeat offenders

One way to accomplish this goal is by reducing the number of repeat offenders arrested for driving under the influence. Ignition interlock devices play a crucial role. 

In the latest edition of our “Good to Know” series, Sergeant Ken Denton and Trooper Craig Sahlinger explain the function of the WSP Ignition Interlock Program.

A properly installed ignition interlock device will not allow a driver to start the vehicle if their alcohol concentration is above a .04.  The sanction for operating a motor vehicle without a required ignition interlock device is a criminal offense.
