Nathan Hayes, 37, of Raymond, was sentenced to a year in prison for possession of methamphetamine. The sentencing took place in Pacific County Superior Court Friday afternoon.
"It was simply time that Mr. Hayes went to prison (because) he simply seems unwilling to stop using methamphetamine," Pacific County Prosecutor Mark McClain told the Herald. "In fact, this time after he was released from jail on a methamphetamine offense, Mr. Hayes was only out of jail for three days before he was again arrested with methamphetamine. As I see it, the only way to protect our community, and him, is to put him in prison and let him get a length of sobriety to maybe give him a chance at treatment."
Hayes will serve a year in prison, followed by a year on probation during which he will be required to complete drug treatment.
Frahm Gets 3
Years for Assault
Ryan J. Frahm, 25, of Ocean Park entered a guilty plea to second degree assault and was sentenced to three years in prison. According to court documents, Frahm was apparently confronted by someone who believed he had taken a weed eater from his residence. Following a brief verbal dispute, Frahm road away on his bicycle and allegedly lifted up his shirt and displayed a firearm saying he would shoot the man.
Officers were called and they located an unarmed Frahm some distance from the incident. Frahm denied possessing any firearm and said that the man had grabbed the handlebars on his bike and Frahm reacted by stating he would punch the man in the face if he did not let go.
In a second unrelated incident, Frahm was alleged to have displayed a firearm in order to take a coat from another.
"I elected to charge the incidents together, but agreed to resolve them by having Mr. Frahm plead guilty to one and dismiss the other with a further agreed sentence above what the legislature intended for this offense," McClain said. "I believe sending Mr. Frahm to prison for three years was warranted and protects our community."
Upon release from prison, Frahm was further ordered to serve 18 months on probation with the Department of Corrections.
