HAVA now offering low cost spay/neuter program

The Harbor Association of Volunteers for Animals (HAVA) spent the past year trapping and spaying/neutering more than 100 feral cats.  Many of these cats were sick.  These cats didn't just appear out of nowhere.  If you have a cat--female or male--and you haven't spayed/neutered him/her, you have probably contributed to the growing number of feral cats we're finding in Pacific and Grays Harbor Counties.  It's not only unfair to the cats, who have to fend for themselves, it's also a great breeding ground for diseases that can infect your cat as well. If you have a female cat, in seven years she and her offspring can give birth to more than 100 cats. That's 100 often unwanted cats who are then either euthanized or dumped by owners who just don't know what to do with 6 new kittens.  

In the case of dogs, people with male dogs often feel it's not their problem. Wrong.  You may not have to deal with the many puppies your dog may be creating but someone in your neighborhood is...and they're probably not very happy with you. If you have a female dog and they are not in a fenced yard, chances are you're going to get a nice surprise this spring. Again, most people simply can't afford to take care of 6-8 dogs or cats. 

If you have a dog or cat and haven't had them spayed/neutered, HAVA has a deal for you.  We have a Spay/Neuter Assistance Program that helps offset the cost of taking good care of your pet. For female cats  your co-pay is $40 and for male cats it's $30. For female dogs under 30 lbs,--$50. For male dogs under 30 lbs.-- $40. For female and male dogs over 30 lbs.-- $60.  The rest of the cost for the spay/neuter will be taken care of by HAVA.
