The weather stayed sunny for Halloween which kept little ghouls and goblins out and about. The Willapa Harbor Care Center in Raymond on October 31 hosted a socially-distanced, masked costume parade for the children of the care center staff members' children.
Accompanied by their parents, who are also care center staff members, costumed youngsters entertained care center residents. The children strolled around the outside of the facility so the care center residents could watch from their windows. Among these masked and socially distanced paraders were Wonder Woman, a walking jellyfish, a giant corn chip, little witches, and other spooky characters. Each parading child was given a treat bag with items donated by the South Bend Kiwanis Club, Thrivent Financial, and the Raymond Dairy Queen.
Earlier in the week all care center staff were presented with small gifts and encouraging messages. Many thanks to Activities Director Katy Cooley and the care center administration for arranging this opportunity for care center residents, staff, and their children. This project involved the work of many local groups. Many thanks go out to the South Bend Kiwanis Club, Thrivent Financial, the First Lutheran Church in South Bend, and the Raymond Dairy Queen. Student members of the South Bend High School Key Club created messages of encouragement and appreciation that were included in the gifts presented to care center staff.
"Most importantly, thank you to those well-dressed young entertainers who provided so much Halloween enjoyment to care center residents," said Sandy Moser from the South Bend Kiwanis Club.
