Get ready to Poker Paddle

On Monday, September 2 (Labor Day), kayakers and canoers are invited to launch on the Willapa River beginning at Robert Bush Park in downtown South Bend and paddle upriver picking up playing cards at several docks along the way. It's a short route on the benign Willapa River. Escort boats and launch help are provided.

The best hand is declared the winner with prizes for the top four hands. Registration is $10 and all proceeds go to support local youth activities. This is not a race. Registration is at 10 a.m. with a start time of 11 a.m. on Labor Day, September 2.
