To the residents of Winlock:
Most of us know that, very soon, we will once again be electing several new officers to the City Council and Office of Mayor.
Many of you have probably never attended a council meeting and think your attendance doesn’t make that much of a difference. Let me encourage you, as a resident of Winlock, to take the time to attend a few meetings, which take place the second and fourth Mondays each month. Listen to the subjects that need to be discussed and be concerned about what each member of the council feels and desires for the city. I, myself, feel there needs to be more participation from those of us who are registered voters. As you listen and hear the subjects that are discussed, you will know and feel what your own opinion is and how you can have an influence on the community.
How well do you know each of the candidates whose signs are scattered around the community? What are their ideas and thoughts on how to move Winlock forward?
If you are not a registered voter, it is a simple thing to register now. You need to hurry to the City Hall or Public Library and pick up a short form, fill it out and just mail it in. You will then be qualified to cast your ballot in the Primary Election this August, and again in the General Election this November. At those times, you can be ready to cast your ballot for those you feel are best-qualified to fill the open positions.
Again—let me encourage you to attend some council meetings, then you will feel more positive about how each of you casts your vote.
Sincerely,
Dana Eaton
