Four Valley students qualify for FCCLA Nationals

Eight Willapa Valley FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) members were in Wenatchee on March 24-26 for the state FCCLA leadership conference.

WA-FCCLA Director of Recognition Chahayla Barton assisted with opening, general, business and closing sessions. Six of the members competed at the state level in STAR Events.

Claire Borg, Amber Anderson, Sidney Pollard competed in Focus in Children for their lessons with first graders on eating right, being fit and making healthy choices.

Hallee Layman did a Nutrition and Wellness portfolio to present to the judges.

Bryttney Deniston and Jessica Koski presented an Illustrated Talk on Lyme Disease.

Chris Rondon had submitted a FCCLA Chapter Website online by February 1st and acted as a timer for the National Program in Action event.

At the STAR Event banquet and Gala four of the students were informed that they were first place and are going to represent Washington in their event at the national leadership meeting this July in San Antonio, Texas. Jessica Koski, Bryttney Deniston, Chris Rondon, and Hallee Layman all qualified for nationals.

Donations can be made by calling Willapa Valley School at 942-3275 to help these students with registration, housing, airfare and meal money.
