Dec. 4, Les Edersheim will share his memories and experiences with the
U.S. Navy Seabees during his nine years in the service.
Dec. 11, Pastor Jim Taylor will talk about Kids Christmas on the
Willapa, benefiting local youngsters and families.
Dec. 18, Jewel Hardy will talk about the Alliance for a Better Community
and its current search for uses for $5,000 in grant funds.
Raymond Kiwanis members and friends also will ring bells for the
Salvation Army on Dec. 6-7 and Dec. 13-14 at the Dennis Company and
Everybody's Grocery. This annual fundraiser not only benefits the charity;
it also provides the basis for an annual request for Salvation Army funds
which are used to hire lifeguards for free swimming lessons for local fifth
graders. In the years since the free-swimming lessons have been offered
locally, no young lives have been lost by drowning in this area.
Interested individuals are always welcome to attend Kiwanis programs.
The Raymond group meets at noon each Wednesday at The Barge, 100 Laurel,
Raymond. Volunteers are also needed to help with bell ringing. Anyone
interested in bell ringing, or in any part of the Raymond Kiwanis'
activities, may call chapter president Vivian Edersheim, 934-5767, for more information.
