Toledo Quarterback Dalton Yoder pitches the ball to Dakota Robbins during a Central 2B League game with a combined team from Pe Ell and Willapa Valley.

Toledo 20 Pe Ell/Willapa Valley 14

Toledo jumped out to a 20-0 lead and then held on for a solid victory over a combined, physical Pe Ell/Willapa Valley team in Central 2B football action.

The Indians rushed for 303 total yards with Taylor Hicks accumulating 178, and then a small army of ball carriers including Mason Gaul (54 yards), Grant McEwen (53) and Dakota Robbins (42). McEwen also caught a couple of screen passes for 40 yards through the air.

Hicks, Gaul and sophomore quarterback Dalton Yoder all scored touchdowns for the Indians.

"Being quarterback is fun but with a lot of pressure," said Yoder. "I like how everyone is coming together working as a team on and off the field. I've learned a lot from being quarterback but the main thing is that I have to be someone my teammates can trust."

The Toledo defense is also becoming fairly trustworthy.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Titans scored their second TD and pulled to within six points. The Indians were driving but then failed to convert a fourth and short inside the red-zone. The Toledo defense was forced to make a stand.

"Austin Eaton, Logan Holbrook, Mason Gaul and Daniel Etchle are really disruptive for the other team's offense," said Toledo Head Coach Jeremy Thibault. "Those four are a big reason for the defense playing so tough lately."

Toledo, now 2-0 on the young season, will renew the Battle of the Cowlitz by hosting Winlock on Friday night.

Tenino 39 Castle Rock 19

After falling behind 27-0, the Rockets found some positive moments late in a non-league football game at Tenino on Friday night.

The Rockets compiled 172 yards of total offense while Chris Millward gained 95 yards and scored two TDs. Dylan Libby added 42 yards on eight carries. Tanner Catlin scored also scored a touchdown for the Rockets.

The Rocket defense was fairly stout, but special teams allowed big plays by Tenino.

Castle Rock is now 0-2, and 0-1 in the Trico League and will host new league opponent Hockinson on Friday evening.

Morton/White Pass 27 Winlock 0

Morton/White Pass scored consistently on Friday night to down the Cardinals in Central 2B League action. Sophormore QB Zack Weinert passed for 65 yards while Sean Berry was the leading rusher for Winlock with 40 yards.

A strong Timberwolves defense held the Cardinals to just four first downs.

Winlock (0-2) will travel to Toledo to renew an old rivalry on Friday night.
