Harbor Haylofters is the Square Dance club in Grays Harbor. This next week end, July31 and August 1, they will have a campout at the Furford Cranberry Museum and have dances on Friday evening, Saturday and Saturday evening and a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning. This club meets every Tuesday during the school year at the Eagles in Aberdeen. They have lessons, good friendship, and excellent exercise. A Cardiologist in Bremerton told a friend of ours that one evening of square dancing is worth seven miles of jogging. If you would like to see this fabulous activity, you are welcome to come and watch and decide to take the lessons this fall. We plan to be there for at least one dance. They also have a round dance cuer. This is a beautiful dance.

The dancers are from as far away as Pe Ell. Many of the dancers from Pacific county drive a long way to participate. The caller for the Harbor Haylofters is Randy Carlson from Raymond. I believe he is also a basketball coach in that area.

Many of the churches in East County are having Five Day club or Vacation Bible School for the kids. This is a fun activity and the children love the activities and information. Over 40 kids were in the Five Day club in Elma. Elma schools are having a lunch for the kids for part of the summer. They are being served at the Middle School. The community wide Garage Sale was a great success. Many people were able to share the stuff they didn't need anymore with someone else who thinks they can. The clothing bank will take left over clothing so those who need some more things can know where they can get them.

East County Rotary helped the team from Montesano who won a place at the state playoffs with their expenses. Rotary is always interested in the betterment of the community. We are now planning for our October 10 fundraiser for our Scholarship Fund. We are so proud of the businesses that support our fundraisers in Grays Harbor County. Our scholarships are for only students that graduate from East County High Schools and Rotary is the collector of funds to make them possible. Donna Rosi is the chairman of the party that funds these scholarships and is one of the most active promoters in Grays Harbor. She is the General Manager of the KXRO stations. This station was established in the early days of the 1900's and was used by smugglers in those days.

The Grays Harbor Fair is the first week in August and has been increasing in attendance. It is well planned and fun to attend. Hope to see all of you there August 5 to 9.
