The Raymond Post Office and the U.S. Postal Service is once again conducting a food drive on Saturday, May 10, which marks the 22nd anniversary. All the food that is donated will be distributed to the two local food banks, including the Willapa Harbor Ministerial Association's food bank in Riverdale, and Legacy Community Outreach's food bank in South Bend.
This is a time when there are few other food drives, so what does come in is appreciated. In addition, both food banks continue to see increases in the number of new clients they serve each month. The need is great in our community, and potentially this food drive can be a great success.
Last year, post offices across America collected more than 74 million pounds of food, which fed an estimated 30 million people.
