Driver crashes through Winlock fence and flees
Investigators are seeking information related to a hit-and-run collision reported near Winlock Sunday morning, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision occurred around 7 a.m. on the 200 block of Hemenway Rd., west of Winlock, after the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet pickup crashed into the yard of a nearby residence, causing damage to a fence and a mailbox. Deputies attempted to locate the owner and driver of the vehicle, but had since found it has change hands numerous times and were unsuccessful in finding the suspect.

The truck suffered minor front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

Toledo dispute ends in car battery
A 1997 Oldsmobile bore the brunt of a young woman’s anger after an argument near Toledo March 6, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

Maribeth E. Seacrest, 23, of Toledo, was arrested after allegedly taking a golf club to the windows of the victim’s car after having an argument with him at a residence on the 100 block of Conifer Ln., west of Toledo. Authorities did not describe the nature of the dispute, but did state it resulted in damage to the front, rear and passenger side windows of the vehicle; an estimated loss of $1,200.

Seacrest was booked without incident for malicious mischief, second degree, and later released without charges. Investigators stated they are reevaluating evidence in the case and will refer Seacrest to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges when they have completed their investigation.

Deputies most recently responded to the same location Feb. 16 to arrest suspected drug distributor Lake Gregson who was booked on six felony charges including distribution and possession with intent to distribute. Investigators stated there was not a connection between the two cases and the Prosecutor’s Office did not comment on how the arrest may affect Seacrest’s ability or willingness to participate in the case against Gregson, as she is his girlfriend and an anticipated witness for the state.

Winlock prowler steals stereo equipment
A complete set of car stereo equipment was stolen during a vehicle prowl near Winlock Friday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The 22-year-old female victim, of Olympia, said someone broke into her vehicle as it was parked on the 500 block of W. Avery Rd., north of Winlock, sometime between Feb. 24 and March 8. Stolen were a CD player, a 10-inch sub woofer and a 1,000-watt amp, an estimated loss of $750.

Shoplifters sought after hitting Gee Cee’s
At least two juveniles are being sough in connection with a theft reported at Gee Cee’s truck stop Friday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Zone earphone

Stolen were a pair of Zone earphone sets, valued at $33, though no other damage to property was reported.

Deputies seek help finding owner of gravestone
Deputies are seeking help identifying the family of an infant whose gravestone was discovered near Toledo this time last year by citizens who found it in freshly-mowed grass.

Discovered on the side of the road on the 400 block of Jackson Hwy., west of Toledo, the gravestone reads “Martin Edwin Brooks, 1942–1942” and efforts to locate the origin of the gravestone, as well as Brooks’ relatives, have been unsuccessful.
