Collisions & Injuries

High speed causes wreck on I-5

Excessive speeds appear to have caused a collision on I-5 Thursday near Winlock, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Gregory A. Mueller, 44, of Poulsbo, had been speeding northbound on I-5 near Milepost 62, south of Winlock, when his 2013 Toyota Camry struck the rear of a 2001 Ford Escort driven by a 32-year-old Randle man.

Mueller's vehicle then left the roadway and traveled up an embankment before striking a water-filled ditch and re-entering the freeway, crossing both lanes of travel and coming to rest against the median.

While the victim reportedly suffered no injuries and his vehicle could be driven from the scene, Mueller's vehicle was totaled and he was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital with unspecified injuries. He was later charged with reckless endangerment.

Toledo man booked after unlawful entry

A Toledo man has been arrested after refusing to leave a relative's house and assaulting one of the occupants, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.

The victims told deputies Kameron D. Williams, 23, had been told not to return to their residence on the 600 block of Mandy Rd., east of Vader, but he did so on March 31 and refused to leave. He subsequently head-butted an 18-year-old man living at the house and the two began fighting, at which time a 39-year-old man sleeping at the house was awakened and forced Williams to leave.

Authorities had initially been unable to locate Williams, but found him the next morning and booked him into the Lewis County Jail for residential burglary.

Area man arrested for meth near Toledo

A former Winlock man has been arrested for meth possession after a traffic stop in the Toledo area Saturday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.

Anthony L. Nutter, 48, currently of La Center, was pulled over for speeding on the 400 block of SR 506, south of Toledo, and detained for an outstanding warrant. During a search of his person, deputies located a baggie of white powder in his jacket pocket, which field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

He was then booked into the Lewis County Jail on his warrant as well as violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act and referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor's Office for third-degree driving while license suspended.
