Toledo man killed in logging accident
A second Toledo man has been killed in a logging accident in recent weeks, this time in the Morton area.
21-year-old Tyler Bryan had been working Feb. 10 on the 1100 block of Hwy. 7, north of Morton, when a log being hauled uphill by a cable swung around and struck the victim, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Emergency responders arrived at around noon and, though CPR was performed, Bryan died at the scene. The cause of the incident is reportedly being investigated by the Department of Labor and Industries.
A memorial fund to benefit Bryan’s survivors, whom include a fiancé and unborn son, has been set up at Timberland Bank and donations can be made at any branch or by mail to PO Box 245 Toledo, WA 98591.
Toledo had previously suffered the loss of resident Alex Oberg Jan. 16 when Oberg was logging alone on the 200 block of Maw Rd., east of Toledo. It is believed a gust of wind caused a tree to fall and kill him. A memorial fund has also been set up for Oberg at Timberland Bank and is continuing to receive donations.
