Pacific County commissioners voted to adopt a resolution accepting an updated Shoreline Master Plan for the county following a public hearing on Sept. 27.
The plan will now be forwarded to the state's Department of Ecology for review.
More than 100 comments were received during the public comment period on the proposed update, an official involved in the development process of the updated program indicated. The original Master Program was developed in the mid-1970s with updates made in 1986 and 2000, the same official stated.
Shoreline Master Programs are local land use policies and regulations intended to manage shoreline use and protect natural resources while providing for public access. One of the goals of the update is to make the document more user friendly.
Commission Chairman Frank Wolfe praised those involved in the update process.
"Once again we demonstrated that Pacific County can do things with volunteers that other counties can't even do," Wolfe stated. "The first few meetings were very contentious -- everybody had an agenda. And the last few meetings they were all working together."
No comment was heard from the public at the Sept. 27 hearing.
