At the Raymond City Council meeting on Monday, Oct. 3, a member of the public expressed concern over planned re-treeing work.
Richard Curtis raised the issue of possibly preparing the areas where the trees will go along Duryea.
"I don't know if there's anybody directing the re-treeing thing or not as far as a volunteer group, so that the soil can get somewhat prepared and ... maybe install root guards to help them grow away from the sidewalk," Curtis suggested to the council.
The council then discussed what they could do with the sites of the trees to prepare them and came to the conclusion that there was not much preparation work that needs to be done.
Also on Oct. 3, the council passed sewer utility tax Ordinance #1855 on the second of three readings. During the course of the discussion, Council Member Vicki Flemetis commented that the tax was necessary to maintain core services and public safety.
