Toy Drive under way in Toledo

The Toledo Food Bank is asking area residents to help support their annual Christmas Toy Drive to help brighten up the holidays for local families in need.

Toys and other gift items are needed for children between infancy and their teens and can be dropped off, unwrapped, at donation boxes at Toledo Market Fresh, the Toledo Community Library and Timberland Bank. Also needed are socks, pajamas, gloves, basic cosmetics and sports-related toys. Monetary donations may also be made to Timberland Bank into an account set up for the toy drive.

Donations will be distributed on Dec. 12 and 17 in conjunction with the food bank. Organizers would like to thank community members for continuing to support this important fundraiser. The Toledo food bank is open regularly the second and fourth Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. behind City Hall (130 N 2nd St., in Toledo).

Santa dropping by WMES

Santa Clause will be visiting Winlock Miller Elementary School on Saturday for residents to drop by and take pictures.

Made available through the PTSA, this opportunity is available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school gym, with various picture options and price ranges available, though simply visiting with Santa is free. During the rest of the week, kids will be able to shop for family members at Santa Shop, with items priced between $0.25 and $10, though typically costing between $1 and $3.

Holiday Bazaar coming up in Toledo

The Toledo Senior Center will he holding their annual Holiday Bazaar this Saturday at Toledo Elementary School.

As many as 45 booths are expected to be filled with holiday crafts and collectibles, while cookies and lunch will be sold, as well. Those who drop by may also participate in a raffle and be eligible for door prizes.

The Bazaar is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and those with questions may call (360) 864-2112.

Winlock Lions to host tree-lighting

The Winlock Lions Club will be holding a Community Christmas Tree Lighting and Caroling event this Saturday and all local residents are invited to attend.

Scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. at Events Plaza, the evening will feature performances by the Winlock High School band and choir, as well as free hot chocolate, cookies, cider and lots of fun. For more information, contact Viola Chickese at (360) 785-0178.

Castle Rock ready for Festival of Lights

Castle Rock is getting ready to celebrate their annual Festival of Lights on Dec. 13, and all area residents are invited to participate.

CARE Coalition asking for survey involvement

The Castle Rock CARE Coalition is asking residents to take part in a survey to help acquire a grant through the State Department of Health and Social Services.

Available online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/CAROXON, the survey is anonymous and asks a number of questions regarding drug use among adults and teens, both within the local community and in your personal life. A certain number of surveys are required to be completed before coalition can apply for the grant, so all those willing to take part in the survey are encouraged to do so.

Fox Theatre to screen 'A Christmas Story'

Historic Fox Theatre Restorations is proud to announce the final film in its 2014 Movie Series, A Christmas Story, sponsored by Windermere Real Estate. Showtimes on Saturday, December 6, are at 2 and 7 pm at the Fox Theatre in Historic Downtown Centralia, 123 South Tower Avenue. Windermere agents will have amazing prizes to give away and Fred Beeks will be on hand to play the Fox Theatre organ before each screening.

Admission for the movie is $8 per person, $7 for Members, and $20 per family (three to four persons).

Presale tickets are available at Book 'n' Brush in Chehalis and Dorias Centralia, Holley's Place, HUBBUB, Santa Lucia Coffee and PostNet in Centralia.
