Ryderwood hosting craft fair this weekend

This Friday and Saturday marks Ryderwood’s Spring Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days - another opportunity for visitors to come out to the end of SR 506.

Along with some of the finest hand-crafted arts and crafts in Community Hall (check out “The Nest”, too!), there will a RWCS Bake Sale and Women’s Club lunch served in the kitchen. For more information about this event, call Marty at (360) 295-0096.

Ribbon cutting for Castle Rock’s Front Ave. project

Castle Rock will be hosting a ribbon cutting and volunteer celebration Thursday to commemorate the completion of the Front Ave. construction project.

Scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. at the intersection between Front Ave. and Huntington Ave., the public is welcome to attend this event acknowledging the great deal of planning and resources invested in refurbishing the street.

A reception with refreshments is expected to follow in the clock tower of Cowlitz River Dental (358 Front. Ave NW). For more information, contact Dave Vorse at (360) 274-7478.

Candidates can currently file by mail

While in-person filing for electoral candidates is not until next week, the Lewis County Auditor’s Office would like to remind residents they may send declarations of candidacy by mail now through May 16.

Though they will not be processed until May 12, they are currently being accepted for all open elected positions, which locally include U.S. Representative (Congressional District 3), State Representative (Positions 1 and 2 for Legislative Districts 19 and 20), Lewis County Assessor, Auditor, Clerk, Coroner and District 3 Commissioner, and PUD Commissioner Position 1.

In-person filing will take place May 12-16, as well as online filing, and more information can be acquired by visiting vote.wa.gov/lewis, or calling (360) 740-1278.

California Baptist University Choir to perform in Toledo

Toledo First Baptist Church will be hosing a performance by the California Baptist University Choir 7 p.m. Thursday.

The this event is free and open to the public, and the choir is expected to perform both traditional and contemporary Christian music. Those interested in learning more can call the church at (360) 864-2550.

‘Clean Up the Coop’ rescheduled for May 17

The Winlock Clean-up Committee has re-scheduled their next Clean Up the Coop even to take place May 17, with the meeting time still expected to be 10 a.m. at Lions Plaza

The re-scheduling had been to accommodate different gatherings related to Mother’s Day this Sunday, and upcoming events are still scheduled for the second Saturday of the month, unless otherwise noted. For more information, call (360) 785-0178.

Plant sale this Saturday to benefit Winlock Library

The Friends of the Library annual plant sale will be this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in front of the library.

Folks can choose from a wide variety of seedlings, tomato plants, perennials, bulbs, plant divisions, house plants, trees and shrubs. Proceeds support library programs.

Kate Moore to host Part 2 of nutrition series

Kate Moore will present Part 2 of her Nutrition series on Tuesday, May 13, from 6 - 7:30 p.m.

The focus will be Blood Sugar Regulation. Discussion topics will include how the body uses sugar, what insulin does, and why Americans are experiencing an epidemic of high blood sugar. Additionally, Moore will discuss how our bodies use sugar for energy and the consequences of too much sugar.

Moore is a licensed Massage Therapist studying a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Program.
