Lions hosting Winlock Bingo

The Winlock Lions Club will be hosting their monthly Bingo game at the Community Building on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Cash prizes will be available, while the kitchen will also be open to provide refreshments. Games begin at 6:30 p.m. sharp, and those with questions may call Club President Jeannie Emmenegger.

Fundraiser for Dayna Hurtado

A spaghetti feed and silent auction fundraiser has been scheduled to benefit community member Dayna Hurtado, who is currently battling cancer.

Scheduled for March 7 at the Winlock Community Building, the event is scheduled to last from 1 to 6 p.m. with donations requested of $5 each. For more information, including how to donate auction items, call Viola Chickese at (360) 785-0178 or WinlockClean@gmail.com.

PTSA invites community to 'Take Your Family to School Week'

The Winlock PTSA is celebrating Take Your Family to School Week with a series of events scheduled for this Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Winlock Miller Elementary School.

Made possible through funding from the AXA Foundation, the evening is free to all participants and includes: Dinner at 5 p.m. of ham, scalloped potatoes, green salad, pie and beverage (first come, first served), classroom activities at 6 p.m. including reading and voting for entries in the Reflections Art Contest, then winners of the contest announced at 7 p.m.

Upcoming Master Gardener classes

Lewis County Master Gardener will be hosting a Spring Grape Care on Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. at Borst Demo Garden, in Centralia. Learn how to prune your grapes and what grapes grow well in our climate. Cuttings from the grapes at Borst Demo Garden will be available for all attendees.

Then on March 7, Gardening for Everyone is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. at Washington Hall in Centralia College. Classes will include Basic Gardening 101, Choosing the Right Tool for the Right Job, Planning a Low Maintenance Perennial Garden, Grapes 101, Organic Gardening, Wild Edibles, Winter Gardening, and Tackling Tough Weeds in the Home Landscape.

The purpose of the WSU Extension Master Gardeners program is to provide public education in home gardening and environmental stewardship generated from research at WSU and other university systems.
