There are six contestants this year, including 4H, Boy Scouts, Jailhouse Chili, Courthouse Chili, the Pitchwood, and the defending champs, the South Bend School Lunch Ladies.
The contest is a blind taste test. You will be able to taste all six entries, and have a full bowl of your favorite chili. The winner will have his/her/their name added to the prestigious plaque that resides with the winner during the year.
In addition to having a great bowl of chili, you can take satisfaction in knowing you are contributing to a great scholarship fund for students. Many local students have received help to achieve their goal of obtaining higher education.
So, mark your calendar for Saturday, March 22 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the South Bend school cafeteria. The $5 ticket price includes the chili, chili fixins, cornbread, drinks, and brownies. There will also be hot dogs on sale for $1, in case you'd like to create your own chili dog.
