Burke Wants to Shift Focus from His Job Performance

As someone present with Mark McClain and actually observed his conduct, I cannot stand by without commenting on what is nothing more than the politics as usual, which we all so frequently criticize.

We went to a local diner that appeared open. The lights in the entire restaurant were on, the doors were open, and the open sign was still on. We walked in through two open double doors and stood waiting to be seated. As we stood waiting to be seated, it became apparent that no service personnel were there. We had been inside for no more than thirty seconds when we realized something was amiss. Mark's first reaction was to call 911 and ask for the police to come to the location. Mark told us to wait at the door for the police to arrive while he looked for potential victims of a robbery or other suspicious activities, which seemed likely given the proximity to the interstate and the unusual circumstances. Mark remained on the phone with the police until officers arrived.

I believe today, as I did that night, that Mark did what we want from an off-duty police officer trained to respond to these situations and he did nothing improper, but instead first sought to render assistance.
The other issue involved a patron who would not leave a group of others he disagreed with alone. Despite moving several times to avoid this unruly person, they decided to leave. The drunk quickly approached and Mark shoved past him so that they could leave. This was in no way inappropriate conduct on Mark's part. In fact, three prosecutors approved of Mark's actions, including Dr. Burke who, now, through others, it attempting to take the focus off of his job performance and place the spotlight on ten-year, and older, issues which have been proved to be unfounded.
Finally, Mr. Gauger wants to say that Mark is not an independent. Mark's record shows that he is pro-choice, pro-gun rights, pro-property rights, pro-small business, pro-gay marriage and even approved domestic medical rights long before gay marriage was approved in the State, all while holding down the cost of government.

Mark McClain is an honorable person worthy of our support for prosecutor and I am disappointed that politics, and not job performance, are at the heart of these unfounded accusations.
